Fred Warner Extended

Fred Warner

The 49ers and Fred Warner agreed to a three-year, $63 million contract extension, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal locks in Warner to the Niners through the 2029 season and returns Warner to the top of the list of highest-paid linebackers in the league at $21 million per season including $56 million in guaranteed money (his previous deal no longer had any guaranteed).

Warner’s extension is a rework of the five-year, $95 million deal he signed in 2021 which had 2 remaining years. Under the terms of his old deal, Warner was scheduled to count $29.17 million against the 2025 cap and $26.71 million against the 2026 cap. Those numbers are expected to decrease significantly with the extension.
